Recap of the Sept. 18, 2024, meeting of the Wasatch County Council

  • Approved the proposed application and budget for the Rural County Grant.
  • In preparation for the upcoming 2025 budget, Finance Director Randy Bates and Assistant County Manager Heber Lefgren presented and led a discussion on the Wasatch County 2024 Q2 financial report, five-year financial forecast, and a review of the Council’s budget strategic priorities which continue to be:
    • Remain financially sound and prepared
    • Be a high-performing county with a highly trained workforce
    • Prepare for future anticipated growth
    • Improve service levels to enhance quality of life
    • Maintain rural character and preserve open space.
  • Staff presented MRF (military recreation facility) project area revenue projections and the Wasatch County Administration Building financial plan.
  • The council approved an amendment to Wasatch County Code Title 4 and Title 16 to clarify definitions, consolidate sections with similar context, and other technical changes that reduce potential conflicts with other provisions and redundant language. The proposed amendment also updates graphics currently in the code with versions that are more readable and higher resolution.
  • The council approved an amendment to Wasatch County Code Title 14 and Chapter 16.27 relating to engineering standard road cross-sections to modify the cross-sections to provide clarity and consistency with the adopted Trails Master Plan and other updated standards.
  • Three items originally on the Public Hearings agenda regarding the SkyRidge Lodge project and overflow parking were postposed after the Jordanelle Specialty Planned Area Planning Committee voted to continue their discussion of the items earlier this week.
