Wasatch County has again been awarded the Government Finance Officers Association of the United States and Canada’s (GFOA) Distinguished Budget Presentation Award for its 2024 budget.

Wasatch County has again been awarded the Government Finance Officers Association of the United States and Canada’s (GFOA) Distinguished Budget Presentation Award for its 2024 budget.

Wasatch County first received the award in 2023 and, along with Utah County, is only one of two counties in Utah to have received this recognition.

“As a rapidly growing community, it can be challenging to navigate the significant changes ahead of us,” Wasatch County Manager Dustin Grabau said. “This budget presentation was the result of significant effort and planning across county departments to proactively address our challenges as we continue to provide excellent services to the community at a larger scale and a more rapid pace.”

The GFOA award acknowledges the county’s commitment to upholding the highest principles of government budgeting. It requires meeting nationally recognized guidelines of serving as a policy document, a financial plan, an operations guide, and a communications device.

Budget documents must be rated “proficient” in all four categories and in the 14 mandatory criteria within those categories to receive the award.

Wasatch County Council approved the 2024 $77.3 million budget on December 3, 2023. The budget can be viewed at www.wasatch.utah.gov/clerk.
