The Wasatch County Library is proud to host a PBS Utah and Utah Arts & Museums traveling exhibition featuring the winning stories and drawings of the 2024 PBS KIDS Utah Annual Writers & Illustrators Contest. The exhibit will be displayed at the Wasatch County Library, 465 E 1200 S, Heber City, from Thursday, Sept. 5, through Tuesday, Oct. 15, 2024.
The annual PBS KIDS Utah Writers & Illustrators Contest strives to foster creativity and literacy in young Utah artists and writers. This year, PBS KIDS Utah accepted stories from young Utah creators inspired by the theme “Our Water, Our Future.” Stories range from fact to fiction and prose to poetry, and the works are original to the authors.
Children in kindergarten through sixth grade are encouraged to submit original stories, complete with a minimum of five illustrations. Out of the stories submitted, this exhibition features the first, second, and third-place winners in each grade level (K-6) chosen by a panel of judges, including educators, PBS Utah community partners, and arts administrators.
Full stories with complete illustrations and audio of authors reading their stories aloud can be found online at pbsutah.org/kids/writers-illustrators-contest.
